Ted and I are teaching together again this year and I have to say that in my opinion he is the best I have seen doing eft!
Hi Cal, (Please feel free to call me Ted, all my friends do)
I read your article originally and at that time did not agree with it. However, after some time and more experience, I've come around to your way of thinking. Some of us take a little longer. I came up with a unique way of eliminating "Resistance to Change" using EFT that can be found on youtube.com in which I simply tap on "all this resistance to change." I find that by doing that before any other EFT is done, the work is far more effective.
Beyond that, I've come to conclude that the actual tapping is a way to keep the conscious mind occupied, while I first eliminate old negative thoughts or self-limiting beliefs and then I help by inserting new suggestions for the mind to accept. Of course, that is Hypnosis.
Just for the record, I very much agree with your overall analysis and strongly believe that every Hypnotist would be better off introducing EFT into their Hypnosis practice.
When Ines Simpson asked me to assist her in teaching Esdaile and Beyond, it was to introduce EFT into the system and "condition" clients ahead of Hypnotizing them so they could go deeply as fast as possible. We've also discovered that once in the deeper realms, we can also use EFT whenever physical pain may arise while working with other aspects of the minds, such as super-conscious mind. I find that having EFT as an integral part of my "tool chest" makes me more effective than having just the one tool of Hypnosis. If both of them are part of the same modality, then I'm all in favor of that as well.
Thank you very much for your insights and furtherance of our wonderful profession.
Best,
Ted
